The iPad is worse than the iPad mini in that it:

- doesn't have Siri
- has the old 30-pin connector
- has a ****** rear camera
- has an arguably lesser build quality

And otherwise it's literally the same specs, but the mini is more convenient and $70 cheaper.

This sticks out like a sore thumb to me. But maybe it's like the 13-inch pro, which seems neither-this-nor-that and not a great value proposition, but succeeds quite simply because it's the cheapest pro laptop, much like the ipad 2 is the cheapest full-size ipad?

So it's pretty clear the 2 isn't long for this world, but for how long? I struck me that the 2 is currently the only iPad you can officially walk into an Apple store and buy until next week. It could just be acting as a placeholder until the production of minis and 4th gens are completely ramped up.

On the other hand, maybe they just want to fill in the $399 price point. But it's essentially filled in by the mini with 32gb.

But if it's selling as a full-size ipad at a discount, and people want native access to the still-massive 30-pin accessory market, I guess it's selling, and it'll stay there until next fall. Hard to say.
