The sensor is only f2.8 so night shot would be more grainy. f2.8 is good but considering the processes that have to go into a pano shot, I would say this is the best you will get at night. Also, your shot is having to pull in a lot of light considering the distance and a photo is nothing but the sensor capturing light so the farther the object, the more light it also has to bring into the sensor to record it.

Also your phone probably metered the light in the center which is dark compared to the sun on the skyscrapers so that would lower the f stop to the lowest possible setting.

Hm...even my well lit apartment is grainy.

A panoramic shot I took yesterday shows no grain at all.
