My friend wants a good camera phone and probably can't afford an iPhone so I decided to type in
"best camera phone" into google. Holy hell was I surprised. Look at how bad the low light performance of the iPhone 7 Plus camera is compared to the top Android phones like the S8, Google Pixel, Huawei H10plus, HTC U11

I can't understand why apple is so far behind the competition here. I can't find similar comparisons for the iPhone 8 but it seems the iPhone 7 camera is being beaten in low light by just about everyone else.
(I love Apple but this is crazy, I do hope they are pulling out all the stops to get back on top with their camera for the next iPhone).

iPhone 8 definitely fixed this. Look at the review of UrAvgConsumer (iPhone 8 v. Note 8) on YouTube as well as read the detailed review of DXOmark here:

both phones Has a 90 and above rating.

Thanks the trick here though seems to be the scores take into account the tricks of having two lenses like shallow depth of field and zoom. I wonder how it would do in a more practical low light comparison like in the links above.
