You can buy a comparable Macbook air 13 for $1199... why is the rMBP 13 even needed?

I honestly don't know. Anyone who's going for the 13 rMBP certainly isn't getting it for the performance, so besides the screen you're better off getting the air. Am I missing something here? Whatever, I can't wait until my 15' MBP arrives on Thursday!

I love 13" laptops (I have a 15" rMBP - would prefer something slightly smaller) but I can't see a reason I'd buy a 13" rMBP. I'd definitely choose the Air over the rMBP.

Because some folks go gaga for Retina. Sell their souls for that GORGEOUS screen! ;)

Maybe to run three external monitors at one time?

Maybe to have crisper images or larger screen real estate with its retina display?

Maybe to have more accurate colored pictures with its screen's higher color gamut?

But, that's all I got.

EDIT - Oh, and if you need more than 512GB of SSD storage (...at an outrageous price)

I'd only want it for the resolution (13-inch and resolution doesn't hurt my eyes) but not for that price and it's limitations.

Cause there are people that just wants the retina screen?
Just like how many people think upgrade their rMBP to 16gb cause they want to 'future' proof.
