So, recently got an M3 MacBook Air, which has Sonoma on there. I also have a pair of Focal Bathys headphones, which have a headset mic function as well. This mic typically functions through the USB-C wired cable. (It also can function through Bluetooth, but the connection is spotty there). While the mic sometimes comes across as quiet, I found that on other systems (my pre-built Windows PC, my HP work laptop, my Android phone), an input volume slider in the setting solves this problem.

However, while Sonoma recognizes the headset mic, it does not provide an input volume slider for the mic in the Settings. This is a problem, because the mic is too soft on most Mac apps I use it. Is there a reason why the input volume slider is missing? And is there a way I can get it in there, even if it means forcing it?
