I was hoping to find a simple app for my iPhone that would allow media control on my Macbook Pro (sans infared). Seems like a simple trackpad or keyboard iOS app would be easy to develop. All the iOS apps I have found require companion software to be running on macOS that must be downloaded separately from the iOS app.

There is an Android app available that will do what I want without extra software. But currently I am running an iPhone.

Is there some reason or limitation that prevents iOS from acting as a simple bluetooth device either mouse, keyboard or media remote? When Apple removed the infrared port, I would have thought they already gave us either built in functionality or an official Apple iOS app as a suitable, or even better replacement. Why can't I find it? Is it because it is not there?
