I can't upload an image at the moment.
Some websites I go to below the safari address bar there is a slightly gray bar with the URL in it with an X on the left?

hold on...are you getting the AMP page by just going to the website or by going through google search results?

if you're getting there via google, then in the search results, you can look for results that have a little circle-lightning icon that indicates it's using AMP. then just avoid those results :)
 
Holding down the "refresh" button in the address bar and then selecting "Request Desktop Site" will also bypass the AMP page.
They should really provide an option within AMP to view the regular article without AMP. Thanks for the desktop tip, at least that is some sort of a workaround.

that's good info; never would have thought to apply that "request desktop site" function to the AMP page but makes perfect sense now :)
