because VC and SA were basically continuations of III. They were in the same 'world' and the same generation. I think IV is pretty much it's own entity AND it's the 'next-gen' of GTA's. I read that somewhere :eek:
 
Vice City and San Andreas were like additional chapters of Grand Theft Auto III, the original GTA game had those three cities...

The new one is called Grand Theft Auto IV because its a new generationg of GTA.
 
^ Exactly. Along with that each game has a new engine from scratch.

GTA III, VC, SA & Liberty City Stories all shared pretty much the same graphics engine - albeit tweaked for the later games, but fundementally built on the orginal GTA 3 engine.


GTA IV is the next evolution of the series.

I just downloaded the free GTA1 and it's still so great :)
