Can someone please tell me why it seems to be impossible for Apple, or any other app developer, to create an app that allows me to delete all emails at once?

It's lame that I have to tap the screen 70x to delete 70 emails. Why can't there be a "select all" button?

Can someone on these boards not create an app for that?

You mean no else see's a need to be able to "select" or "delete" all?
As opposed to tapping your finger 70 times.

I agree with this fully. I don't get hundreds of emails a day but if I go a couple days without checking my inbox, it's inconvenient for me to tap the screen 50 or 100 times. Select all button please!

yeah, i've don't understand why this doesn't exist.
i've set my trash to empty after a day, but i'd also like to see this:
delete all (in the inbox), and have it all deleted! (NOT moved to trash).

if i get rid of something, i want it GONE... :D

I never move or delete emails. I would like a "mark all as read" button, though,

Same here. When I get a buttload of unreads I open up gmail on the web and do a "show all unread">select all>mark as read. I'm assuming you could do this with apple mail, maybe even write an automator workflow for that. hmmm, I might just do that.

So apparently I'm not the only one who see's this as a "needed" app. I assumed that there must be a "technology" issue that prevented one of you "Crack, Wiz Kids" from developing an app to do this.

Who wants to give it a shot? I'll split cost (if a few others would contribute, it would be nice).

Anyone? If not, I'll pay to have it developed (but would also like some of the revenue from sales).
