I've downloaded it, and I just upgraded to version 10. But I want to watch a video but It's telling me to install VLC, because it thinks I don't have it. So.. I need help. hahah.

There is no version 10 of VLC Player, unless you mean some point release.
VLC Player is currently at version 1.1.7.
What kind of video file do you want to play?
Maybe use VideoSpec (I prefer that, though it hasn't been updated since 11/2009), MediaInfo Mac (10/2010) or MediaInfo (10/2010, there is a Mac OS X version to download, VideoSpec and MediaInfo Mac are using the same library as MediaInfo) to analyse the video and report back.
Btw, have you tried the OPEN WITH dialog or dragging it onto VLC Player?
