If we want to connect it to a desktop PC at the highest speed, is TB4 to Ethernet dongle the best way to do it?

Thanks. Why the international community does not make Ethernet ports thinner? Those MBP 2021 remind me of Powerbooks.

There is a thinner alternative. These are your thunderbolt ports. You can just connect two macs with a thunderbolt cable for networking. If you want to connect to an Ethernet network you can use an adapter. These are $15 for 1gbit and $200 for 10gbit.

Ethernet ports are very thick so you won’t get one in without making the device thicker unfortunately.
Yes but no since you can easily built one RJ45 ethernet port on the power supply. It's included on the power supply of iMac M1 with a Gb RJ45 ethernet port (except base model and it's an option).

At this kind of price range, it should be auto-included on the power supply IMO. It costs almost nothing for Apple and we are talking about a "Pro" machine. Most users don't care but for some I found it embarassing at this price range to have trade-offs on such a basic port.

I want to connect a MBP 2021 to a desktop PC at the highest possible speed.

Then ethernet is not the best port for that.

Ethernet at best would be 1gb/s maybe 10gb/s, TB4 is 40gb/s

So I should get a TB4 for my desktop PC if I want to connect it to the MBP at the fastest speed?
