Copying from old 8-track through a DVD recorder/TV setup results in multiple copies of the item with all attendant files duplicated. Is it safe to delete the duplicates before making a backup? Thanks!

Mu ltiple copies

Wait, what?

Is this going into a Macbook at any point? Care to elaborate a little more?

Yes, I am copying from 8-track to a DVD then making a backup using the MacBook and an external Pioneer drive. The first DVD always shows multiple copies of the program although it does no t play through more than once. For space sake I'd like to eliminate the dupes before backing up but afraid to before I understand why they are there in the first place.

I have the 13" white MacBook and Tiger.

I think you are going to need to be way more detailed. Explain the hardware and software you are using in detail, explain the process you have been using in detail, and then say what the problem is.

It might turn out that this is the wrong forum for this question.

This was my thought as well. OP, you're going to have to describe what you're getting and the software much better. You'd probably be better off posting on a forum associated with the software though.
