iPhone Why must I use an exploit to get root access?

It would be awesome if someone managed to uncover some private API that allows access to the phone's internals. Of course, the app would*not be allowed in the App Store. Therefore, only users of devices that are registered in the Developer Portal could use it, but it'd still be cool nonetheless.

Wouldn't that private API be an exploit anyways? Just a jb paid for some, instead of freely distributed.

I would happily pay $99/year to instantly jailbreak all my devices, and get iOS beta jailbroken, and xcode, etc.
