The 2014 & 2015 15 inch macbook pros share same model number A1398 & batteries . So why 2014 model is not being recalled inspite of having the same battery with fire risk?

I have a 2014 15 inch macbook pro, the batteries have bulged & appears ready to explode. I took it to Apple service center today & service centre told that I will be charged 21000 rupees as top case also will be swapped with battery.

Also - I recently came to know about the anti reflective coating issue repair program which was not publicly announced. I have been living with the horrible looking screen on my laptop as i didn't know about the program. Why was it not publicly announced?

Thanks

The above post was made on apple communities - within few minutes of posting i recieved mail from apple telling politely that my impolite post was removed.

"We’ve removed your post Why no battery recall for mid 2014 15 inch macbook pro - A1398 because it contained either feedback or a feature request that was not constructive."

Note - it seems several mbp s since 2012 has a1398 model number according to this website - https://everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=a1398

So my assumption that all a1398 s have same battery is probably wrong.

Were you able to get this resolved with apple? Will they replace the 2014 battery for free?

A 5 year old battery having problems isn't necessarily a manufacturing defect.
