Hello,

I was just wondering if anybody knows why the iPad mini is not for sale in Brazil. I don’t see any articles online explaining why (especially now that its actually made there). Is it just something where Apple hasn’t given an explanation? Also if I were to ship one over, would it be considered a shady/black market good and confiscated by customs? Thanks!

Is the iPad 4 made locally yet in Brazil? - I thought that Foxconn was going to make it locally to avoid the high import tariffs.

Perhaps they are waiting to retool the factory to also produce iPad minis? I thought the import tariffs are so high that it would be pointless trying to sell it there. It would be cheaper to leave the country and bring one back.

Maybe they don't have a Portuguese keyboard available and are waiting to develop it first.

Makes a lot of sense.

Well Apple is currently being sued by Brazil for releasing models too often, so if I were Apple, I would only release every other model in Brazil from now on. Apparently quick release cycles are illegal or some such nonsense.
