I'm really shocked why on Earth none of the most widespread messaging apps (Whatsapp, Line, Telegram, etc) get the "last seen" timestamp privacy right.

Some let you hide it, but it's absurd to hide it: you usually have a circle of close friends or relatives who you love they see the last time you were online.

What you want isn't an "invisible mode". What you want is to have a two-level hierarchy of contacts: On one hand the "standard" contacts (colleagues, employees, bosses, students, people you met on the street, etc...)... they shouldn't see your "last seen" timestamp, because it's this people who annoy you with messages if they realize you're online and you didn't reply their last message yet.

And, on the other hand, close friends, relatives, and so on, people you really like to share your connection times with them.

Of course, by default all contacts should be in "standard" mode. Only those marked as close friends should be able to see your online/last seen status.

Is it *so* hard to get this right, that everybody (Whatsapp, Line, Telegram) got it wrong?

I don't like messaging apps just because of this reason.
