OK, so I can kinda see that without a traditional "face" it may be hard to implement some kind of solar charging like my Casio and Citizen watches. However, could they have implemented some kinetic magic to charge the Apple Watch?

I don't think there would be any space for kinetic charger, and they provide such little energy, that space is better served with extra battery, since the AW uses far more power then a dumb old Casio watch. :)

The Casio and Citizen watches use a minuscule amount of power compared to the Apple Watch and other smartwatches so can easily be charged using solar or kinetic energy.

The power used by an Apple Watch is far too great for a solar charging option to make a difference.
