Hey,
Is there some logical reason - related to privacy or manufacturing, due to which we cannot have a 4k front cam on iMac? 1080P is good but why not 4k?
People can record content directly on iMac without needing cameras/phones, if it was possible...

I am sure a 4K camera can be used, but most people (normal) are not keen on having a super high detail camera on themselves.

4K webcam would be good for a social media centered person or live streamer or other up front and personal display of themselves...

I for one think 720p is fine for Zoom, Team, Webex meetings because I don't have perfect hair, no makeup, and not wearing sharp clothes when I have meetings.

At our workplace, we ordered a lot of 1080 webcams during the pandemic to support remote work and many people (mostly women) refused to use the 1080 and wanted the older 720 or 480 because they said they didn't want to put on makeup at home everyday....

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense. Truthfully, I also wouldn't like a 4K cam exposing my every pore during work call. But I have the luxury of having a separate laptop for work..I realise not everyone does.

Cost and ability to fit it inside the enclosure would be the two biggest reasons why we did not have it.

I am just hoping FaceID (and the better iPad Pro / iPhone front-facing camera) come to the larger-display "iMac Pro".

Hmm, ability to fit into enclosure might be true for MacBook Air, but don't think it's quite true for an iMac which is thick enough...

Are there laptops and/or all-in-ones computers that ship with a 4K front camera?
