What's the point in posting your iphone wallpaper or theme without providing an ID?

It's really annoying, I come on here looking for ideas of nice wallpaper/themes to download, and I see loads, but people are just posting them without saying what they are... so effectively it's useless!

that thread seemed initially setup as a place to SHOWCASE our iphones.

no one is obligated to provide the themes and goodies they use, but yes, it's nice when they're offered.

some themes are not for free, some require memberships (at places like dbarteam.net); some are just for show (perhaps the creator doesn't want his work shared, or doesn't want to give away something he doesn't 'own').

if you see something you like, you can ask for it (as people do), and, if it's available, someone will post it (a theme, wallpaper etc).

showcase? as in, show off, for your own benefit? christ...

so what if they're paid and require memberships...self created etc?
why not say what these things are?

CBA to ask every person what their theme is, and plus it's hard to keep track of comments in a thread which is 150 pages or something crazy....

This reasoned and polite post, followed by your next profane one, is a sure way to get people to post an ID.

Here's a simple solution, when you see a theme you like, ask the person, in the thread or in a PM, for the ID. If you can do that without an attitude, you might get what you want.

a showcase IS showing off your work (or your usage of various themes, etc). besides, no one is OBLIGATED to give away anything, people share out of courtesy.

so, two words to consider: "obligation". and "courtesy".

EDIT: hey, i don't mean to pick a fight, just seems we BUY our iphones then expect people to GIVE US their work for free... (for example, look at all the complaints about paying $1. for apps). sometimes, it just doesn't work that way; anyway, if you see something you like, ask about it. simple.

oh, and isn't there something... narcissistic about 'showcasing' stuff without IDing it?

"look at this cool thing I have... but I'm not automatically going to say what it is... for that you'll have to ask every person whose theme you like, and then monitor a thread over 150 pages long"...

oh, in other words, the theme isn't that important to you if it requires a little work.

if you see something you like, it's really easy to post a request about it; if it's available, someone will let you know. if not, pick another theme. there are many of them.

Listen, the thread asks users to post their homescreen no more. Thechnically, they are following instructions.

If you want a thread so as to catalogue themes start one and set the rules as such.

Second, lighten up. Anything you get for free is just that, free. Don't get angry with someone because they didn't do something for free in the manner you want. That is childish.
