I have recently upgraded my OS to Marverick from SL. Don't think its an OS issue, but why is it after viewing in Preview, the app closed by itself instead on standby mode. So each time when I wanted to view in Preview, it will take awhile for the app to reopen.

Anything that I missed out configuring?

Starting in Lion, the OS will do automatic app termination. It can be disabled for all apps system-wide, or for individual apps.

Example of system-wide:
http://www.defaults-write.com/disable-automatic-application-termination-in-mac-os-x/

Example of individual for Preview:
http://apple.stackexchange.com/ques...losed-in-mavericks-when-last-window-is-closed

Example google search terms:
os x automatic termination
NSDisableAutomaticTermination

Tks so much Chown.

Now problem is: what is "default write" as described abv. Sorry, IT noob. Any further help?

This new Preview also do not have the "hand palm" where you can shift image ard after zoom in to see the details. Think sometimes Apple engrg are working on thins 2 step backward. Any way to add this feature?

It's a command you would copy from the web page and then paste into a Terminal window. The command must be used exactly as provided, correctly spelled. I mention this because you misspelled "default write".

Maybe you can look on the Mac App Store for an app that lets you set system-wide defaults. This may be less error-prone than the command-line, which can be unforgiving.

Tks Chown. Think I give it a miss. Too complex for me to execute.
