Hi people. After going through the list of all the 4K titles available in the US on ATV4k, I was shock to see that only a handful here are available. maybe 20!

Why the hell is this acceptable? Im sure Valerian, yesterday was in 4K, now it’s available to rent today - it’s Only in HD lol anybody else pissed about this in the UK?

There's currently 160+ 4K DV HDR films in the iTunes store here in the UK dude.
It really is increasing daily. 7 weeks ago, there were 66 films!
But strange when new releases such as Office Christmas Party aren't in 4K when they are in the US.

Still no dinamic switching. I have to manually do it depending on the video content if I want the correct picture.

There’s far more available than you’ve posted.
Valerian isn’t 4K in the UK store, I don’t believe there’s any Lionsgate movies that are.
The reason why you may ask, Licensing Licensing Licensing........,

Hey buddy, have you 11.2 on Beta? Works fantastic!!! The auto frame rate & HDR/SDR switching works perfectly :)
hay Dude. It doesn’t switch between SDR and HDR it’s a lie!!!!
Mine is a HDR Tv only, so that might be the problem, but there is no switching for me on 11.2.
Apple TV only outputs Standard colour with match original colour profile enabled, when watch Dolby Vision or HDR content. So Dolby Visions or the down sampled version for HDR tv’s is switch off by default on HDR TV’s. :/ So it pretty useless for us! I have to leave the new setting off, to get any type of high dynamic range. (Dull clipped, wrongly curved -dynamic range btw!).
Then to watch an SDR Film - I have to turn it on match in order not to lose shadow detail and have the image look Accurate as intended with the release! (without loss of shadow detail, overblown highlights and over saturated colours.
Don’t get me wrong the Apple all one solution of HDR works most of the time pretty well for watching UTube and general stuff. But for critical movie watching, there’s no switching when its needed!

So not a great implementation , and not dynamic switching! in my view. My TV can still do it, so why can’t apples dynamic matching. What’s going to happen when the new HDR+ standard is released. Only support one standard or the other? You can only watch one Standard or the other. It’s foolish not to encode them in both!

Movies are being added every day almost every day and although I would prefer to have the American list I'm very happy with the rate at which my films are being upgraded. Despicable Me has been a massive upgrade in picture quality which landed the other day for us in the UK and well worth checking out.

What TV do you have? Could very well be a limitation of your TV.

What TV are you using buddy? I have the Panasonic EX700. A friend of mine, Perrie, has the SONY A1 and both look absolutely stunning with ATV 4K. We are both using HDR SDR Match etc. Absolutely love it.

Some amazing skiing, snowboarding & cycling titles just added from MSP, Red Bull to iTunes 4K.
They ABSOLUTELY SHINE as they are filmed in 8K and 6K using Phantom and RED Dragon cameras.
FADE TO WINTER is the most INCREDIBLE skiing & snowboarding film ever starting in Japan and then going to Italy, the USA, Canada and Iceland. Great soundtrack and truly amazing, inspiring people in it living life to their MAX!

Messing about with my TV tonight with after tvOS 11.2 release. Anyone noticed The Great Wall has dropped off the 4K list? My purchase isn't showing it as being that any more?

If I buy a movie now that is not in 4K and then it comes out later on in 4K, will I have to rebuy the movie or will it upgrade to 4K automatically and for free?

My main problem being in the U.K. is that some are in 4K and some aren’t. The first transformers (2007) just plain HD and the other 4 are all 4K Dolby Vision. Same for Star Trek Into Darkness just HD and the other 2 4K DV. Also The Bourne Identity in HD and the rest in 4K DV. Very annoying to not just release the whole lot in 4K.

All my three Star Trek were all upgraded to 4K versions, UK here btw too. Not sure if there's some licensing issues going on with this all.

[doublepost=1522804639][/doublepost]I think there is slightly more than 20.
I say that as I currently have 56 4K/HDR movies in my library.
Though Apple are for whatever reason holding back or dragging there feet in getting movies put onto itunes in the format that the movies were originally filmed in which in the present time is 4K.

Apple can only host what’s been provided by the movie studios.
Unfortunately for the UK there’s so many licensing restrictions set in place as the distributors are far more fragmented than in the US that we get the bum deal in all this.

Lionsgate need to pull there finger out and universal have not been adding any new 4K movies. They are re releasing them to try make more money.. battleship and lone survivor keeps getting re added as a separate title in 4K hdr but eventually get taken down by Apple I guess..
