I often read negative comments about TimeMachine and its reliability etc. I have done full restores many times and for me it just works. Over the past couple of weeks for example I've had to reinstall macOS and restore from backup several times due to issues with an SSD, and yeah, it just works. The ability to restore the system exactly as it was is amazing. It has never failed me but many people say TimeMachine is garbage. What's your experience with it?

the one time I needed it - it failed me. 3 or 4 years ago my Aperture library went corrupt, TimeMachine was unable to restore it. I was able to extract all the originals but none of the meta data (edits, keywords etc).
Using CC now. a few months ago I got a Mac Studio to replace my iMac, I set it up as new so didn't technically restore but copied all my data for my CC backup.
