For so long we wanted native 3rd party apps without jailbreaking and we finally got them with the AppStore, but one of my favorite things about the iPhone is in-fact a WebApp. Here's why.
I've tried multiple file transfer apps from the AppStore such as:
DataCase
Files
Briefcase
Readdle Docs
They all work well enough, but there's just one problem. If you're downloading a file and get a call, the app quits and you can no longer keep downloading in the background. If you're listening to music and you want to hear another artist, you have to quit the app... or if you get a text message and want to reply... the list goes on. Sometimes I wanna download an mp3 file from my computer at home and listen to it and although SimplifyMedia and Breifcase do stuff like this, it's not practical because the music stops as soon as you quit.
The way around this is to use iPhone Remote. Access all of your Mac's files securely through Safari and you can even play music and download files in the background. Images can be saved from Safari. You can even use spotlight to search your hard drive to get the files you want quicker. The iPhone Remote web interface works not only on the iPhone, but on any computer that has a web browser. It also uses the secure https protocol. The only downside is that you can't store these files locally.
I think the positives outweigh the negatives about using this webapp.
It also helped me to reduce the amount of actual apps on my device!
Note: With WebApps, you don't need to have extra icons on your home screen... you can have all your apps neatly tucked away in folders in Safari Bookmarks... that's another advantage that you don't have with native apps. Also, most native apps need an internet connection to function anyway, so why not just use Safari for them?
