I mean, look at the screenshot below.

- never had any apps
- never had any music
- never had any voice memos
- Just 2 pictures (1 of which being the screenshot I uploaded here)
- never signed into apple i.d.
- am on 7.1.2 already so no update in the background

So basically nothing at all on my phone to take up space.

When I first turned on the phone it had 600MB used out of the 12+GB available... Now, it says 1.3gb have been used even though I have downloaded or put a single thing on my phone

So why the hell does my iOS keep downloading **** in the background and lowering my available storage memory? I don't care about the 1.3GB so far, I'm more worried about how do I know when it will stop, if ever? And what the hell is my device downloading in the background that I'm unaware of?

Chill out.

The OS takes up the accounted for 1.x GB of space. The most likely reason it changed is because when you first looked at it, the phone hadn't had enough time to calculate the actual used space and reported an incorrect number. If and when you get an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6+, you won't have this problem.

your stored cookies on safari is taking up space as well as history and then all of text messages add up to take up space, just clear your cookies and history and delete texts

Don't forget Siri will download a higher quality voice in the background as well as other little things that start to add up- location information, logs, etc.
