Why the lack of Rosetta?

What benefit is to be had with losing Rosetta support? Why do you think Apple thought it was the best time to remove it?

Moving on from old code and forcing developers to finally update their software, if they haven't already. Though the downside is that many applications not in development anymore, but still being used, get left out.
