No, it's not because of simultaneous voice and data (though I guess this may affect some people)

It's because I can't use it overseas, like I can with my ATT iphone by swapping the sim card (of course on an unlocked phone).

Seriously, CDMA is dead technology.

You just started a carrier flamewar. Let's see how this all unfolds.:)

Verizon is in America. Most Americans stay in America.

Your statement is no different than me saying that the AT&T iPhone is inferior due to the small 3G coverage area or lack of hot spot.

To each their own. We will all soon enough have a great phone and more importantly a choice of carrier.

You should re-title the thread to "Why the Verizon iPhone is inferior to the AT&T version for me". Because, to be completely honest, I don't travel overseas, so why should I really care if I can't use the phone where I won't be going?

That being said, I am not switching to Verizon, AT&T is great for me.

What percentage of customers fit this model? How many people just rent a device locally?

And you can use a VZW iPhone 4 overseas. Granted it's not in as many places as the GSM type, but it's playing lose with words to say it doesn't work outside the US.

i really don't understand why people have to talk about which carrier is inferior or not.

you get the carrier that suits YOUR needs and which works best in YOUR home/work area.

its all personal preference!

do you realize that ONLY around 15% of the US population has a passport???

its sad as hell, but that means it means NOTHING to the other 85% of the US.

1+ same goes for Phone which any phone what ever phone you like is best for you but that doesn't mean it's best for me. Choice, Options, Freedom are all good words.
