Last night I wasted a lot of time figuring out a workflow for getting my DVD's onto my tangerine clamshell iBook 300mhz Rev. B with 192 MB RAM and a 80 GB hard drive.
I decided to test it with my Pirates of the Caribbean DVD which is kinda awesome for sure
... I used Handbrake Lite then iSquint on iPod setting to convert it to a 800MB mp4 file. Sweet. I loaded it using a iPod to transfer it from my Powerbook to the iBook.
I played the file in Quicktime and it wasn't so bad. But when I whipped it into VLC it looks awesome and gorgeous. When you have it on with millions of colors (rather than thousands) the picture turned out much better. No jerkiness which I was surprised for sure.
I really do love VLC for video playback. Now I can fly out on trips with the clamshell and watch movies with a long battery life... yeppers!
