Why was the launchpad hotkey/icon changed to view options?

I noticed the other day that the icon that used to mean launch pad on both my Touch Bar on my MacBook Pro evidently now means view options. WTF this is super annoying! is there a way to change it back I get that im probably in the minority that liked launch pad. and I'm not against have a view options icon. But damnit dont just change and icon that has meant a specific thing for damn need a decade and then all of the sudden change it to do something totally different. wtf?

Does anyone know how to change this back?

Surely someone else is seeing this? Am I the only one having this issue?
