I realized that we complain a-lot about little things we don't like about macs, and I think I know why. With apple you get a really really high quality product, a Rolls Royce of computers if you will. And after using them for an extended period of time, we as users come to expect nothing but the best from apple. So when a mac pro ships with less ram slots then we want, we complain because we expected it to have more. We have set our expectations so high that we have nothing to complain about but little things. Its actually a good thing, we experience so few major problems that we have nothing but small things to complain about. How many dell users do you know that complain about how wide the case is? or the number of ram slots? For me thats none because they are too busy trying to get their computers to boot or work in general.

So as mac users we have every right to complain about little things because we dont have anything major to complain about.

:apple:

humans complain because its human nature to want more regardless of how good something is, i want macs to be cheaper and i want a 40" 1080p tv and i want a better job doesn't mean the mbp i have 1080i tv or my job arent all fine as they are

i want a 40" 1080p tv....doesn't mean the mbp i have 1080i tv or my job arent all fine as they are

I too have a 1080i tv, instead of buying a new one, I bought a sharpy and changed the i to a p! My neighbor has a 52 inch 1080P LCD and I have to say my 50 inch panasonic 1080i plasma blows it out of the water.

BTW most if not all 1080i tvs can display 720p.

Yes I know.

'Progressive scan technology produces better images for the
fast moving orientation of sports television. Simply put, with 104 mph fastballs in
baseball and 120 mph shots on goal in hockey, the line-by-line basis of progressive
scan technology better captures the inherent fast action of sports. For ESPN,
progressive scan technology makes perfect sense.' Also for HD gaming.

Your "1080i plasma" is more than likely a 1366x768 panel that can accept a 1080i input. The only true 1080i televisions are CRTs…

Why complain?

Because Apple makes computers out of readily available components and charges a premium for them.

If you're going to pay the tax you're going to want Apple to put their best foot forward.

The amazingly great Sony XBR 32" CRT that I miss very much begs to differ with you.

I actually have a sony xbr 34" CRT Tube tv and now that you mention it, it does have an amazing picture. It looks very sharp even with standard tv.

Er whoops, I meant to say 34 not 32 before, but yeah. The damned thing might weigh 200 pounds, but they're amazing. The reason for this is because unlike LCD and plasma panels, they don't have a "native" resolution, so they don't have to fake lower resolutions, they actually display them correctly.

I'm with grue. I complain because I like to complain. If I had nothing to complain about, I'd begin complaining about not having anything to complain about.

I dig your style, bro.

Where in MN are ya? I went to boarding school up there.

We have set our expectations so high that we have nothing to complain about but little things.

But have we really set expectations so high? The pricing complaints are because Apple were offering great value on the Mac Pro hardware, effectively the base Mac Pro cost as much as it's components would at retail even a year after release. Was it so unreasonable to expect Apple to keep offering great pricing after they had been for two and a half years? The memory slot thing is an odd one, again I don't think too much to expect 6 or 12 memory slots based purely on the hardware technology. People aren't asking for the impossible and that is why it is easy to complain.

On the Dell complainers note, there are complaints about Dell's memory slots (I think one of the i7 systems has only 3 slots) and other things regarding their internals. Infact there have been for years because of proprietary parts, you just don't get it focused on a few sites like you do with Apple.

A true midwesterner! Yeah, I was at Shattuck for hockey, so I wasn't in town much, but when I was there the big highlight was the ol Faribo West Mall, which was… awful :D

I miss hockey. And snow :(

Gosh people on this forum get so side tracked, not that I mind.
