Why when I put my go phone sim in old iphone 5 data speeds faster?

I have a 5s but the satay speeds are like half what I get in my iphone 5 with the same SIM card. Any idea why? My iphone 5 was a ovule iphone before I unlocked it. The 5s is a att phone only. Thanks for the feedback.
