I don't understand why certain application download temp files or complete applications to an hidden folder that few of us will ever see... are there any other applications/update which does this too??

Most of the time it's temporary files/folders that the software needs to use. It's not something you should see or use, so of course it's not downloaded to your desktop or your downloads folder. What's so difficult to understand?
