Why won't "Desktop" stay in my Finder favorites list?

I check Desktop in Finder Preferences, but it isn't there when I return to Finder later. Is there a way to make it "stick?"

What you're doing should be enough. Perhaps your Finder plist is corrupt. What happens when you log in under a different user account? Make a troubleshooting account and try it if you don't have a second account.
