I have a message a newer OS is available and to click update, but when I click update I just get a message this version of itunes 9.1.1 is the current version.

And yes my iphone is plugged in.

Are you trying to update iTunes or the iPhone OS? You need to have version 9.2 of iTunes first, then you can update the phone to iOS 4.

I'm having the same issue. If I try to update iTunes it tells me I have the current version. Is 9.2 not compatible with OSX 10.4 or something?

Edit: I'm going to manually download 9.2 from the apple site and I'm guessing that'll fix the issue. However my iPhone is in the middle of a restore so I won't be able to let you know how it worked out until it's done.

OH I got it thanks.
If you update from the apple icon on your desk top, itunes 9.2 will pop up

thanks everyone
