iPod touch why won't my computer detect my ipod??

hi guys so finished backing up my ipod but failed =.= (OMG technology hates me) anywayss i was trying to try it again but it ijected my ipod and now when i try to plug it into my computer my computer wont detect it!!!!

Is it your entire computer that can't detect the iPod, or just iTunes? Also, are you on a Mac or PC? I ran into a similar issue recently where the device showed up under My Computer (Windows PC) but not on iTunes. It ultimately boiled down to a USB conflict and also required a reinstall of iTunes. I found this support article from Apple to be beneficial in helping troubleshoot the problem.

have you restarted itune? reboot the computer? just a couple of things to try
