Some sites I read (including an Apple site) seem to say that the 10th generation iPad can only go to ios 17.1.1 but that seems to be incorrect? Another Apple site says the 10th is compatible with ios 18.

If I select "iPadOS 18 public beta" it offers ios 18.4 beta but with beta updates disabled, it claims 17.0 is "up to date".

FWIW, WiFi is on and connected. Speed check shows 500+ Mb/s. Automatic updates is enabled.

Am I missing something?

FWIW: My wife’s 7th generation iPad is on 18.3.1 and working fine. According to the iPad User Guide the 10th generation is supported too.

Yes, I read the same thing.... ios 18.* is supported on the 10th generation. Hence my question.... why won't mine offer anything above 17.0 (not even 17.1)???

So I plugged it into iTunes on Windows and it immediately offered iOS 18.3.1 and is currently updating. Go figure.

EDIT: Update to 18.3.1 completed without incident......

You shouldn't have any issues. I have an iPad 10th gen (cellular) and it's been running iPadOS 18.3.1 since the beta was released and it's fine.
