Why won't my nexus one icon show up when I change it?

I have been trying to change the icon for my nexus one and everytime I paste an icon in there, it just shows a preview icon.

It is really quite frustrating, and seems like it would be straight forward.

I click get info, copy the icon I want and then paste it, but it does not show up.

I have tried converting the icon again and that does not help.

any ideas?
