Upgrading my sister's Mid-2010 MBP 13" MacBookPro7,1 MC374LL/A.

I bought this RAM: http://www.frys.com/product/7912890

Its DDR3 and laptop is DDR3. The laptop just beeps when you turn it on with the RAM installed.

I tried each module individually in each memory slot.

Any guesses as to why its incompatible?

I'm not a RAM expert, but the Apple spec for the 2010 is 1066 MHz but the FRY's RAM is 1600 MHz.

Since I switched from PCs to Macs in 2002, I've forgotten all about this since I stopped building computers then. But, it was my understanding that the faster ram I ordered would simply operate at the slower speed the mac uses. I did a few searches online about ram compatibility prior to purchase, and thats what I read.

It won't operate correctly in the 2009 and 2010 MBP models. My mid 2009 13" MBP would work with 1066MHz or 1333MHz RAM, but not 1600MHz. The 2010 models are pickier.

The 2010 will work with up to 1333Mhz however the chipset doesn't support 1600Mhz, whichever way you parse it you bought the wrong RAM.
