Why won't this update update? It just stays there staring at me!

For the past 24 hours, this damn thing keeps popping up

Telling update. So the gentlemen i am, i click update. I don't want to piss off my computer right? So it restarts and acts like it's updating then starts up. Only to still have that little update badge on the app store icon on the dock! Still saying it needs to update. What the heck is going on? Is this happening to anyone else?

I sure am. And now the update is applied lol thanks. All those other updates it said "you have to be on ac power bahhh" and i just updated and it always worked. Welp. Looks like sometimes you really do. Who'da thunk

That's because those other updates were software. Firmware updates require the power cord because if you're on battery and it runs out during the procedure, you could brick your notebook.
