I go in and out of meetings everyday, and could really appreciate some form of automatic DND activation/deactivation according to my Calendar events. This can be done easily with apps on Android platform, but not iOS. I know of two iOS apps that (sort of) do this, but each with some major flaws:
1. AutoSilent
https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/autosilent/id474777148?mt=8
This app is not bad. It can automatically extract events from the Calendars of your choice. It can even mute your phone according to location. The problem is, you must leave location ON AT ALL TIMES for the app to work, even when you only want Calendar trigger (and not the location tracking). This is a major flaw in my opinion, as I do not want my location tracking icon constantly showing on my notification bar. I want to know when other apps are using location.
2. DND Director
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dnd-director/id640834199?mt=8
This app offer many of the same functions as AutoSilent. The issue with this one is, it does NOT automatically extract the events from Calendar. The user has to manually preset each event that he/she wants the programmed DND on/off. Alternatively, you use this app to setup new events, instead of the Calendar app.
As you see, neither of these are perfect. Apple, please give use something that will just work in the background without any need of user intervention, and do not change or limit how we use our phone in any other ways.
Any other suggestions from my fellow iPhone users?
[EDIT] This is not a new topic, and has been discussed here more than two years ago. But Apple still hasn't done anything about it.
