It seems very uncharacteristic of Apple to choose a standard HD resolution like 1080p. By doing so, it's like they're conceding to Android smartphone makers.

Also, I thought there was a point resolution in Xcode that Gruber suggested could be scaled 3x. So 1080p scales by a non-integral value. How does that work? Isn't that more difficult for developers?

I just find it an odd choice of resolution.
