They're using a VPN client to secure their wireless, so you have to wait until the touch gets hacked I guess

You can't use PAL2.0 on the iPhone or iPod Touch. Apple didn't pay the fees to allow WPA Enterprise authentication.

Why did you come to MacRumours when PUMUG already had the solution. ;)

Maybe you should come to our meeting. :D

hum..I could go ask itap but my guess is they will be clueless.

ITaP would be as clueless as their Mac Doctor. :p

Ya, I'm also a student at Purdue and I cannot get it to work. Why would apple include VPN in the iphone but not the Ipod touch. This is so frustrating.

Lets try and keep this thread alive so that I can use PAL2.0 on campus. I get on PAL but it is just the instructions.

PAL2.0 requires the WPA Enterprise support and PAL needs VPN support. I'm surprised the Touch doesn't have VPN support while the iPhone does.

I spoke with itap,

the girl on the phone said the administrators have been working on it but they can figure out how to get the iphone or ipod touch on PAL or PAL2.0....

She had sid if I had a VPN client on it I might beable to but she wasnt sure.

As far as I can tell the touch has no bpn client in the software (avaible) but iphone does which is why it works.

not that itap knows that.

I was under the impression that the Touch had VPN just like the iphone. Well then you won't be able to connect to PAL I have the same problem with my laptop. I have to use VPN in that as well. Itap knows about the problem but they haven't figured a way to get it solved. Not as yet.

PAL2.0 should work without any sort of additional client in Windows or OS X.

I'd be more then happy to help in person or using the KB documents.

No updates.

Our meeting went well and someone did bring up the iPhone over PAL. No one has a Touch in PUMUG yet.

Hopefully you came to our meeting.

Hey, I just bought the January software update for the touch and it now shows network options (including VPN) under the settings menu. I'm going to try it on campus tomorrow.:)

Also, i lost all my unlocked apps, but being able to get email and surf the web on campus (hopefully) makes up for it.

Hey I also just got hte january update and now that it supports VPN has anyone had an luck figuring out how to connect to pal 2.0 with it?

Those steps have been outdated since the 2.0 firmware came out and enterprise encryption started being supported. Here's how to connect to the faster PAL2.0:

1)Goto Settings--> Wi-Fi--> Other...
2)For name enter "PAL2.0" (no spaces)
3)For security select "WPA Enterprise"
4)Enter your career account username and password
5)Click accept when it pops up

Also, you need to be in range of the network, ie on campus, to set it up. Also, since the ssid is not broadcast in most areas, you may have to go into settings and select it manually when you want to connect, but you don't have to enter your login info every time.
