I'm currently frustrated with the wi-fi coverage in my house. I have hard wired ethernet running to most rooms in my house so it is easy for me to add access points connected via wire to my router.
Current
1 Original Time Capsule in my basement connected to my modem - B/G/N 2.4GHz
2 Airport Express bought 1.5 years ago on the first level of my house (not central location) - N only 5Ghz
3 Linksys 54GS upstairs level - B/G
The AEX and Linksys are connected to the TC via ethernet cable.
All are different SSIDs with the idea being that older devices won't slow down newer ones by connecting to the one that makes the most sense. I have an iMac in my office which is where the N only 5Ghz is connected (can't connect the iMac through wire). The main issue I'm having is that the Linksys B/G seems to have the strongest signal but as I move throughout the house I have some dead spots and I need to manually manage what SSID my devices are connecting to far too much.
I'd like to add a new Airport Express or Extreme in a central location on my main level to try and eliminate these dead spots. I'd also like to stop having to manage what SSID each device is connected to. What is my best bet? I really don't have any B/G exclusive devices anymore so I am wondering if I should do away with separate IDs and just have 1 wireless network throughout my house with many different points.
Please let me know what my best option here is. Thanks.
