Wi-Fi menu bar icon

Since upgrading to OS X 10.7.3 this morning, I have a problem with my Wi-Fi status in the menu bar. I have checked the 'Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar' sign in System Preferences. I do not see the icon in the menu bar. The strange thing is, when I close System Preferences and open it later, I click Network, the sign 'Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar' is off and I have to re-click it to 'on' (which again doesn't do anything). Only have had this problem since the upgrade to OS X 10.7.3 this morning.

Can anyone help me?

Why don't you make a new user and see if it has that problem. If so, it may be a system issue.
