How much do they charge for Wi-Fi on plane?

Can one person buy the access and share the code or the password with the next guy and split the cost? :p

Yep, depends on the airline. I used it on AirTran a few months ago and I think it was about $10 for the flight.

There was no passcode or anything, you just sign up on a web page and it authorizes your computer. Do you really think they would make it as easy as just giving you a password you could share?

Also, it was surprisingly fast.

Apple should bring back that old iBook commercial where the guy in the center seat is editing video, using all the tray tables of his seatmates . . . but now it can show him setting up his Macbook Pro as a wireless host for everyone with an iPhone or Touch in coach.

Not every flight of every airline offers it, it will depend on the airline and the plane. Don't expect it. I haven't been on any flight recently that had WiFi.

I almost convinced my dad to invest in wireless internet for airlines a couple years back, before it was anywhere close to where it is today. I guess now I can tell him "I told you so". :) I really hope this concept goes mainstream within the next few years; that would be nice.
