I have had my iPhone 3G since firmware 2.0. Since that time, I have not been too impressed with wi-fi reception on iPhone 3G. That is, it works, but does not pick up as many wi-fi networks as a laptop.

For example, I was at a location today where my laptop saw 7 networks, my iPhone only saw 2.

So is that because

a) The iPhone is deliberately turned down on wi-fi, so that the ones that it picks up will be closer and therefore more likely to work?

b) The iPhone reception, in general, is not as good as a laptop wi-fi?

c) Any other reason?

ps - I am now using v3.1 beta

thanks
