The purposes would be varied, such as monitoring of traffic speed, but to begin with something simple such as remote monitoring of temperature in a room. The idea being a small sensor (preferably internally powered and with small demands) placed in a location with a Wi-Fi signal that a MacBook could access. Then appropriate software on the MacBook that would easily allow one to set and control parameters. Such as, for instance, setting a preferred temperature range and notification in some manner if this exceeded.
Research to date indicates that this is technically possible, theoretically at a modest cost, but that I've found thus far seems both too expensive and not particularly easy to set up or use.
Any ideas? Thanks.
