Wide Screen Compressor Issue (line down right side)

I ran a wide screen video through compressor and this is what came out:

The video looks fine except for this line running down the right edge. What happened?

I don't know what the issue is, but I get it too sometimes. Definitely an annoying problem.

Does the raw footage have the same artifact when you view it in VLC and QT prior to compression? If so then I would say it is an issue with the camera, tape or type of tape being used. If you have never had this issue in the past with the same camera I would look into taking it in to get some maintenance.

The footage looks fine in FinalCut, the actual .dv file on the scratch disk, and a quicktime export straight from FCP.

Fixed it

I made it one pixel shorter on the width and that fixed it right up.

Most codecs need multiples of 2 or 4 or another even number for number of pixels. In the future always was an even number.
