Widget Background - Lion

Hello all,

previously using the calculator or convertor on the widget screen was a great help to me especially as I could see the figures I was working on through the widget page background ( I didn't have to remember or write down the numbers).

Now in Lion (very happy with otherwise) there is a solid background.

Is it me?
Can I change it?
Suggestions for alternative method to replace my old reliable one (free hopefully)
In fact ANY suggestions would be welcome. I know it is a minor wing, but it is annoying ;-)
