When I try to close a widget on my dashboard or try to add something to a sticky note widget, the adjustment will be fine until I reboot my computer. Then everything goes back to the way it was before I changed it. Essentially any changes I make will not take or save. Any ideas what my problem could be? I am in South Korea and cannot go into a Mac store to talk to 'genius'.

I have a macbook that I bought in 2006. I use OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard). Everything else on the computer works normally. Do I have some kind of mac virus?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I highly doubt you have a virus. A more likely cause is that your global Dashboard preferences are corrupted. Fortunately, this is easy to fix.
  • Find in your Library -> Preferences folder a file called com.apple.dashboard.plist
  • Move it to your Desktop
  • Log out and back in, or restart the Dock
