I have a ubuntu box runing gnome and I really love the feature of gDesklets being able to have objects like weather, cpu temps, etc on the desktop background. Now from what I allready know about mac os they have something somewhat similar called widgets that makes use of dashboard. I was able to do the hack that allows you to take widgets out of dashboard and place them on the desktop. However I would like to be able to place them on the desktop and have them in the background underneath application windows. As it is right now they are allways in the foreground and overlapping open apps. Anyone know how I might go about doing that?
